Duration: 60 minutes
Max. Number of Participants: 15
Summary:
Currently, microbiological culture is the only available method for diagnosing infections. This process typically takes 2–4 days and often yields negative results. This workshop offers students a unique opportunity to explore a revolutionary diagnostic method based on nanopore sequencing technology. This portable technology fits in a pocket and can identify the cause of an infection within just one hour.
Participants will learn the fundamentals of nanopore sequencing and the methodology for processing clinical samples. During the workshop, we will process and sequence a clinical sample to determine the infectious agent. Students will experience the entire workflow, including DNA isolation, sequencing library preparation, and real-time sequencing data analysis.
